Databricks Cost Calculator:
Estimate Your Monthly Spend
Model your complete Databricks deployment with multiple workloads, different instance types, and all three cloud providers. This is the only independent multi-workload Databricks calculator available. Add workloads, adjust parameters, and see real-time cost estimates.

Methodology and Assumptions
Data Sources
- DBU rates from official Databricks pricing pages (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Instance DBU consumption from Databricks pricing calculator
- Cloud infrastructure pricing from AWS, Azure, and GCP pricing pages
- Spot instance discounts based on average availability (70% estimate)
What is Not Included
- Cloud storage costs (S3, ADLS, GCS)
- Data egress and transfer charges
- Committed-use discounts (negotiate separately)
- Photon acceleration effects on DBU consumption
- Regional pricing variations for cloud infrastructure
For complete DBU rate tables, see DBU Pricing Explained. For cost reduction strategies, see Cost Optimization.

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is this calculator?
This calculator provides estimates based on published Databricks DBU rates and representative cloud infrastructure pricing. Actual costs will vary based on your specific instance types, region, utilisation patterns, negotiated discounts, and storage/egress usage. Use this as a planning tool and validate against Databricks' official pricing calculator for final budgeting.
Does this calculator include storage and egress costs?
No. This calculator estimates compute costs only, covering Databricks platform fees (DBUs) and cloud VM infrastructure. Storage costs (S3, ADLS, GCS) and data egress charges are additional. For most Databricks deployments, storage is 5-15% of the total bill and egress is under 5%.
How do spot instance savings work?
When you enable the spot instance toggle, the calculator applies a 70% discount to the cloud infrastructure portion of the cost. The Databricks DBU rate remains the same regardless of spot vs on-demand instances. Spot instances are best for fault-tolerant workloads like batch ETL and ML training that can handle interruptions.
What if I use serverless workloads?
For serverless workloads, the DBU rate already includes infrastructure costs, so the infrastructure estimate from this calculator would not apply. Select the serverless workload type and note that the DBU rate shown is all-inclusive. The calculator handles this by using the serverless DBU rates which are higher but include compute infrastructure.
Can I save or share my calculator results?
Currently, calculator results are computed in your browser and not persisted. Take a screenshot or note down your configuration for reference. A shareable URL feature is planned for a future update.
